“I witnessed the nuns being happy.” That was a thought conveyed to me, and to others around me, in my recent trips to Ruma (IL), Wichita (KS), and Columbia (PA) to visit sisters around the country.
Prairie grasslands, milkweed planting, and Earth Day Morning Prayer gave the Wichita Center community multiple ways of observing this important day and implementing some of the suggestions from Laudato Si’.
Palm Sunday offered the Wichita Center Community an opportunity to live out principles found in Laudato Si’. Instead of ordering the standard palms, this year we ordered from EcoPalms, a project to promote environment and social justice.

On Monday, March 14, 2022, over 250 Parishioners and community members from various Christian denominations gathered at Holy Trinity Church in Columbia, PA for a prayer vigil for the people of Ukraine. A number of Ukrainians were also present from the different areas of the Diocese of Harrisburg. The Ukraine Bishop from Jenkintown, PA was there with several of his priests. We were happy to welcome the Auxiliary Bishop for the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

The Wichita Small Grants Committee approved a $250 grant to the Literate Ladies Book Club to purchase books for the Juvenile Detention Facility (JDF) in Wichita, KS. Over 200 books were provided and local bookstores gave a discount because of the association with the Adorers.
Kelly Mai, an ASC Scholar senior at Newman, is an outstanding young woman who is making a difference and will make a difference in society. The ASC Scholarship program is a memorial to our five ASC Martyrs of Charity. The ASC Scholars are selected after personal interviews and they are required to do 45 hours of service each semester with not-for-profits.
