
Sister Sue Andrew, ASC, celebrated 50 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Wichita Center in Wichita, KS. She made her first profession on July 3, 1976, and her final vows on August 1, 1972. She marked her anniversary with a Mass at the Wichita Center chapel, followed by a celebratory meal. She also celebrated with the St. Teresa, Little Flower parish community in Kansas City, MO, on Sunday, May 24.
Sister Sue was born in Dayton, OH, the fifth child of Elwood and Mary Ellen (Somers) Andrew. After moving to Kansas, her family attended St. Ann Parish in Prairie Village, KS. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Emporia State Teacher’ College in 1972 before entering the ASC community. Her master’s degree in Christian Spirituality was gained at Creighton University in Omaha, NE in 1985. She earned a master’s in clinical social work from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1994. She was board-certified by the states of Kansas and Missouri as a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and School Social Worker.
One of her honors included being chosen by Professor Marshall as one of only two recipients for an Internship with the Meninger Institute in Topeka, KS. This experience was highlighted in an article in the Teachers’ Education Magazine.
For more than 20 years, Sr. Sue taught elementary or high school students. Her ministry in the primary grates included St. Mary in David City, NE, St. Mary in Newton, KS, San Jose in Carlsbad, NM, and St. Margaret Mary in Wichita, KS. At the secondary level she taught art and theology at Bishop Hogan and St. Teresa Academy, both in Kansas City, MO, and at St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park, KS, where she was both teacher and counselor. Her ministry blossomed into the field of therapy. She began her ministry as a therapist at Ozanam Home for Boys in Kansas City for several years. She then served as counselor and teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas. Her study at the University of Texas in Denton led to her certification as a play therapist supervisor.
After a brief time in Independent Ministry, Sr. Sue worked for 19 years as a Therapist at Visitation School in Kansas City, MO. She currently volunteers where needed.
