Newman University’s 2022 Ablah Awardees are ASC Scholars

At Commencement, Newman University honors one graduating senior woman and one senior man with the highest student honor it bestows —the Ablah Award. The origin of this award was an endowed gift from Fran and Jeri Jabara, university benefactors, to honor the love of education advocated by their parents.

Kelly Mai, an ASC Scholar senior at Newman, is an outstanding young woman who is making a difference and will make a difference in society.  The ASC Scholarship program is a memorial to our five ASC Martyrs of Charity. The ASC Scholars are selected after personal interviews and they are required to do 45 hours of service each semester with not-for-profits.

About us

The ASC Family is a community of Adorers of the Blood of Christ Religious Sisters and those inspired by our values and spirituality. The Adorers were founded by St. Maria de Mattias in Italy and came to the United States in 1870. Today, we work for justice, peace, and love for our dear neighbor all over the world.
