by Sr. Therese Wetta, ASC

Sister Inês Albino had many experiences while studying English during her month in Wichita. A woman of courage who dared to speak in English to two groups of people at Newman University, Sr. Inês spoke about the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood, her role as director of the Society, and its role in assisting children from many countries so they have the basic necessities of life. Her missionary zeal was particularly expressed during her time with the college students at the Campus Ministry Wednesday evening sharing and community-building session. Sister Inês implored them to remember the many children who are so much less fortunate by praying for them every day and for those who serve them.
On Monday, September 8, she joined the Newman University ASC Scholar class and me for two hours of service at the Kansas Food Bank. This organization provides food for children from families in “food deserts” by providing food for them on weekends when they do not receive a hot meal at their schools. The volunteer service that day was to empty cartons or cases of donated food and put the cans and cartons in containers that were used to prepare the bags of food. Later, an assembly line of students began to prepare these bags to be given to each student. Sister Inês is transferring cartons of dry cereal to the black container.
Yet another witnessing of Sr. Inês and her missionary zeal! https://www.ppoomm.va/en/chi-siamo/le-4-opere-missionarie/posi.html
