JPIC Bits from Around the Region

Adorers of the Blood of Christ

With a focus on gratitude and promoting the dignity of persons, Sr. Kristin Forgotch shared part of her Thanksgiving Day serving dinner to those in need at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in South St. Louis. Kristin was grateful for this opportunity to participate in the event, serving dinner in restaurant style at tables, helping to provide a cheerful, safe, and respectful place for the families and individuals who gathered for Thanksgiving dinner.

Sister Ursula Schones in Wichita, Sr. Regina Siegfried in St. Louis, and Sr. Margaret Washington in Columbia all continue to accompany immigrants with ESL sessions. As they help to strengthen needed language skills, the impact these sisters have on the lives of the immigrants and their families is even more profound through their compassionate presence that says “you are not alone…we stand with you.”

During the month of November, the international ASC JPIC group held an online meeting with the participation of the 20 contact persons from the different regions, delegation, foundations, and missions of our congregation. The theme for this gathering was ‘Peace – Our Call as Adorers’ with a focus on Adorers in Europe and around the world. Along with an informative presentation on the theme, several sisters shared moving experiences of accompanying victims of war and of living and ministering in areas of unrest and conflict. Participants from the US Region included Sr. Dani Brought, Congregational JPIC coordinator and representative for the US, Sr. Bo Hui for Korea, Sr. Ha Tran for Vietnam, and Sr. Marcia Kruse, representative for the Generalate international community. Rounding out the representation of the US Region, Sr. Betty Adams provided translation services for the group.

Sister Mary Catherine Clark participates in the Gun Sense committee at the St. Margaret of Scotland parish in St. Louis and recently they organized a panel discussion, “Where are we at?” that included city and state officials, along with the local chief of police. The conversation centered on the current landscape of gun violence, community impacts, and the policies and gun violence prevention actions in St. Louis as part of the parish’s efforts to build community where informed action can lead to meaningful change.

During their monthly gathering, the ASC Associates of the Columbia area were joined by Sr. Dani Brought, who shared a presentation on the US Region JPIC efforts and activities over the first 10 months of 2025, along with information about the activities of the international congregational JPIC coordination. The Associates expressed that the session was very interesting and gave them lots to think about, raised their awareness of things they could be involved in to expand their ministries and helped them to feel more connected with the congregation.
