Sister Ursula Schones, ASC

 Adorers of the Blood of Christ

Sister Ursula Schones, ASC, celebrated 75 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Wichita Center in Wichita, KS. She made her first profession on July 1, 1951, and her final vows on July 1, 1956. She marked her anniversary with a Mass at the Wichita Center, followed by a celebratory meal with the ASC community.

Sister Ursula was born in Canute, OK, to William and Dorothea Schones. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Sacred Heart College – now Newman University – in 1963, and a master’s at Kansas State Teachers College in 1974. She held certificates in Standard Elementary Education in both Texas and Oklahoma.

As an elementary educator for almost 40 years, Sister Ursula served in several states, including schools in Moore and Okarche, Oklahoma; Hobbs, New Mexico; Ellinwood, Ness City, and Wichita, KS; and at the Indian Mission School in Omak, Washington. She joined the St. Andrew Parish ministry team in Moore, OK, where she served as the assistant religious education director and as a tutor. Later she became director of religious education and served in the Stephen Ministry Program at St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman, OK.

Sister Ursula was active in vocation work. She gave vocation presentations to middle school students in various parishes in Wichita. She also gave mission talks throughout the state of Kansas.  Since 1984, she has been a strong supporter of the ASC Associate Program. When she moved to the Wichita Center in 2006, she was asked to be an assistant to the Director of ASC Associates. She prepared monthly gatherings for several groups of Associates living in OK, KS, and CA. Sister Ursula currently resides at the Wichita Center.
