Sister Teresa Bahr, ASC, celebrated 65 years as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ at the Wichita Center on May 12, 2024. She marked her anniversary with the Eucharist and a meal with the ASC community. She made her first profession on July 1, 1959, and her final vows on July 1, 1964.
Sister Teresa was born in Great Bend, KS, one of 11 children in the family of Henry Sr. and Frances Bahr. Her family attended St. Ann Parish in Olmitz, KS. Three of her sisters and three of her cousins were also Adorers of the Blood of Christ. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart College, now Newman University, in Wichita, KS in 1962.
Sister Teresa served for 45 years as an elementary teacher in Kansas, with a focus on the primary grades. In addition to her ministry in the Pilsen District School in Pilsen, she taught at St. Joseph in Humbolt, St. Joseph in Ellinwood, and St. Joseph in Conway Springs. Her ministry at Christ the King School in Wichita covered 37 years.
Following her retirement from full-time classroom teaching, she ministered as a Home Visitor to elderly and shut-in persons in Christ the King Parish. She concluded her public ministry by returning to the parish school for several more years. She tutored and served as a Teacher’s Aide.
Sister Teresa currently resides at the Wichita Center where she is Living Mission in Later Life.
