Sister Susan Welsby, ASC is celebrating 50 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. Sister Susan made her first profession on January 1, 1971 and her final vows on August 16, 1975.
Sister Susan was born in Wichita, Kansas, to Ralph and Helen Ruth (Marshal) Welsby. She received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Newman University in Wichita in 1973 and her master’s in computer science from the University of Missouri in Rolla in 1983.
Sister Susan’s natural aptitude in mathematics and business, combined with her expertise in computer science, placed her in several managerial positions. She served in the Newman University Computer Center in Wichita for 15 years. For a part of that time she was also the Coordinator and Lecturer for the Center. Her ministry as manager of the Provincial Business Office in Wichita was followed by a term as Treasurer on the administration of the former Wichita Province. She also served for seven years as the Executive Director for the San Antonio Intercommunity Finance Office in Texas.
Following the ASC International Assembly in Rome, Italy in 2005, Sister Susan was named Treasurer of the Congregation, a position she held for 10 years.
