
Sister Jean Marie Landis, ASC, celebrated 80 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ at St. Anne Chapel in Columbia PA on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025. She made her first profession on Aug. 12, 1945, and her final vows on Aug. 12, 1950. She marked her anniversary with the Eucharist and a reception.
Sister Jean Marie was born in Marietta, PA to Earl and Elizabeth Landis. She earned her certificate for Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) from Mercedian School of Nursing in Scranton, PA in 1958. She graduated as a Clinical Pastoral Assistant from Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA in 1978.
Sister Jean Marie’s early ministry was teaching kindergarten at St. Teresa School in Albany, GA.; St. Mary in Steelton, PA; Holy Trinity in Kinston, and St. Raphael in Greenville, both in NC.
After working at St. Anne Home for the Aged in Columbia, PA for two years, Sr. Jean Marie pursued an education in nursing. Following her training as an LPN from Mercedian School of Nursing in Scranton, PA, she served on the full-time nursing staff of St. Anne’s for 14 years, then another five of light nursing duties while she worked toward her certification as a Pastoral Care Assistant.
Sister Jean Marie returned to St. Anne’s in the Pastoral Care department for 27 years. Even when she began Living Mission in Later Life, she still volunteered at St. Anne’s as much as she was able. She now resides in Annunciata Hall at St. Anne’s Retirement Community.
