Sister Barbara Biver, ASC, celebrated 60 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on September 22, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois. Sister Barbara made her first profession on July 1, 1966, and her final vows on May 14, 1972, both in Ruma, Illinois. She marked her anniversary with a Mass in the chapel at Benedictine Living Community, and was joined in the celebration by sisters, family, and friends.

Sister Barbara was born in O’Fallon, Illinois, to Clement and Virginia Biver. She received her bachelor’s degree in history from Saint Louis University in 1969, and her master’s in religious education from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1978. She also holds a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education.

While her ministry was teaching, Sr. Barbara’s additional service often included being the parish organist. She served in Red Bud, Prairie du Rocher, and Lawrenceville, all in Illinois. She began her ministry as a Director of Religious Education (DRE) for Holy Cross Parish in Wendelin, Illinois; and later in St. Lawrence Parish in Lawrenceville and Immaculate Conception Parish in Bridgeport, both in Illinois; she again served as organist, pastoral associate, including DRE, in both towns.

She has served on several boards and committees, including the Board of Conciliation, Charitable Giving Committee, Mission Futures Committee for the Ruma area, Center Resource Committee, and the Wisdom Retirement Corporation.

Sister Barbara spent more than 20 years in community service, first as Novice Director for eight years, then as Director of Pastoral Care at the Ruma Center. She transitioned into service as Director of Community Life and Mission at the Ruma Center. For several years she has worked as an office assistant at the Regional Mission Center in St. Louis while also being the ASC Liaison with the staff at Benedictine Living Community.

She currently lives in community in St. Louis, and continues to serve as an office assistant at the Mission Center.
