It is August, the last days of summer. I think of August as a time to refresh and renew, to savor the longer days and sweet evenings. I recently had an opportunity to take time away from my regular routine and do just that.
Sister Maria Hughes, ASC
Sister Maria Hughes, ASC taught first grade and was principal at schools before working in full-time ministry for the Adorers. She was vocation/formation director and provincial councilor for the former Columbia Province, novice director for the U.S. Region, co-chair of the National Religious Formation Conference and director of its summer forums program. She also was director of the Institute for Religious Formation until 2012. Since then, she has served on the community’s leadership team.
August days in the part of the world where I live are usually warm and sunny. They are the last days of summer, holding on to time, wanting just a little more rest, fun, space, and encounters with friends.
