Clare has spent more than 60 years as a vowed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, a Roman Catholic community of women religious. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in English from Saint Louis University and worked in education. She is now retired and living in her community’s retirement center in the Midwest where she is a freelance writer.
