We are grateful Srs. Wieslawa Przybylo, Danijela Anic, and Maria Hughes came to visit us in Columbia. The day before, Srs. Kristen Forgotch and Ha Tran arrived. On July 1 we were able to celebrate our feast with mass at De Mattias Residence with Sara Dwyer from Washington, as well as Linda Fischer, Margaret Washington, and Jenny Sellaro (who just returned from retreat at the shore)! Father Tim Sahd from Middletown celebrated the mass. He wrote in the parish bulletin last year about their “hometown hero,” Sr. Maria Hughes, when she became General Superior.
A delicious meal was prepared, and conversation and presence were shared. The visiting sisters had the opportunity to visit Washington DC (in the very hot weather) including the National Basilica and John Paul II Center as well as the outside of the White House! –what they see on TV! The guide was Sr. Dani. We also had the opportunity to take a boat ride down the Susquehanna River. Walking our grounds and being present to one another was a graced time for everyone. Having corn on the cob, Klondike bars, fresh cherries, July 4, visitors, all signs of summer!
We have an abundance of graces that are constantly with us. Thank you sisters and we promise our prayerful support as you return to Rome (or Washington DC, or Wichita, or St. Louis, or Vietnam) to continue your/our mission in communion.
