Teacher, Parish Minister Dies

Lillian SteckleinSister Lillian Stecklein, an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 74 years, died Aug. 23, 2015 in Wichita, Kan. She was 91.

Sister Lillian, baptized Katherine Louise, was the seventh of 10 children born to Andrew and Rose (Dinges) Stecklein. She grew up on a farm near Ness City, Kan., and attended the public school there until the family moved to town. She was then able to attend Sacred Heart parish school for her eighth grade.

After starting high school in Ness City, she decided to join the ASC community. She entered the Adorers’ novitiate on Aug.

Teacher, Advocate for Young Sisters and Refugees Dies

MulacRSister Rosemary Mulac, an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 73 years, died July 24, 2015 in Columbia, Pa. She was 89.

She was the second of nine children born to Croatian immigrants Milan and Mary (Pecar) Mulac. She grew up in McKeesport, Pa., where she attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Croatian Parish and School.

She entered the Adorers novitiate on Aug. 12, 1941, made her first vows on Aug. 12, 1942 and final vows exactly five years later.

She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Pharmacist, Artist Dies

RatermannJSister M. Jane (Frances Marie) Ratermann, an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 60 years, died July 22, 2015 at the Ruma (Ill.) Center from complications of a stroke. She was 80.

Sr. Jane, ASC, born Sept. 5, 1934 in Breese, Ill., was the ninth of 12 children born to Joseph and Wilma (Woltering) Ratermann. She entered the Adorers on Aug. 29, 1953, made her first vows on July 1, 1955 and her final profession on July 1, 1960.

She studied at St. Louis School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1959, and served as pharmacist at all three of the ASC-sponsored hospitals in Illinois:

Sister Janiece Ille, ASC, educator, prison minister, dies at 72

Sister Janiece Ille, a Texas native who taught, did parish work, and was a chaplain to federal prisoners, died Jan. 11, 2015 in Wichita. She was 72 and had been an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 52 years.

She was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Levelland, Texas, and attended school in Levelland and in Hobbs, N.M., where she met two Adorers who inspired her. She joined the community as an aspirant when she was a high school freshman in Wichita.
