Long-time Adorer, Teacher Dies

EvaristaSister Evarista Durler ASC, a professed Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 82 years, died Dec. 12, 2015 in Wichita, Kan. She was 99.

She was born Aug. 13, 1916, the first child of Engelbert and Stephanie (Habiger) Durler, and baptized Juliana Marie at St. John the Baptist Church in Spearville, Kan.

She was taught by Adorers at the parish grade school, which influenced her decision to enter their community in Wichita in December, 1931.

She graduated high school from St. John’s Academy in Wichita in 1936, pronounced first vows in August 1933,

Sister Teacher and Poet Dies

SiggBSister Bernetta Sigg, an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 80 years, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. She was 99.

She was born Aug. 21, l916 in Ost, Kan, to George and Elizabeth (Seidl) Sigg, one of eight children, and baptized Sybilla. When she was a child, her family, with several other families of the Ost, St. Mary’s, and St. Mark’s, Kan., area, moved to Roggen, Colo., where they laid the groundwork for a parish church and school. Her parents helped displaced and migrant families.

She attended Loretto Heights in Denver for a year and worked at a ranch for two years before joining the Adorers at age 17 in Wichita,

102 year-old Nurse and Ruma Quilter Passes

Sister Mary Jerome Goeckner, ASC, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at the Ruma Center, Ruma, Ill. She was 102 years old and had been a professed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ for 85 years.

Elizabeth Theresia Goeckner, born Dec. 3, 1912 in Bishop Creek (near Effingham), Ill., was the oldest of nine children born to William and Rosa (Probst) Goeckner, and one of six daughters in the family to join the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. She made her first profession on July 2,

Sister Rose (Margaret Rose) Schrage, ASC, 1928-2015

SchrageRSister Rose Schrage, ASC, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the Ruma Center, Ruma, Ill. She was 86 years old and had been a professed member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ for 67 years.

 Sister Rose was born on Dec. 31, 1928 in St. Rose, Ill., one of eight children born to the late Bernard and Mary (Goestenkors) Schrage.

She made her first profession on July 1, 1948 and her final vows on July 1, 1953.

Sister Florence May dies at 101

MayFSister Florence May, ASC died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. She was 101 and spent 83 of her years as a professed Adorer of the Blood of Christ.

She was born on a farm near Garden Plain, Kan., on Jan.13, 1914, the fourth of 11 children of Peter and Elizabeth (Stuhlsatz) May.

She entered the convent at Wichita, Kan., at age 16, in August, 1930, pronounced first vows on July 31, 1932, and final vows on Aug. 10, 1937.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education at Northwestern State Teacher’s College in Alva,
