ASCs Visit Liberia
The first Adorers of the Blood of Christ to return to Liberia since the murders of their sisters stationed there in 1992 met with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first elected president after Charles Taylor was deposed and the first elected female president of Liberia or any nation on the African continent, on Wednesday, June 18 in Monrovia. On Thursday, July 24, President Sirleaf posthumously decorated the murdered Adorers - Sisters Shirley Kolmer, Joel Kolmer, Barbara Ann Muttra, Agnes Mueller and Kathleen McGuire - with the Grade of Grand Commander in the Order of the Star of Africa in recognition by the government and the people of Liberia for the sisters’ work and sacrifice.
