The season of Advent is upon us, time to reflect on the powerful way that the Lord has touched our lives. It is a time of waiting for the rebirth of Jesus in our lives.

This past year, I’ve had to exercise strong faith. While I have been dealing with pancreatic cancer for five years, my discomfort has increased quite a bit over the last few months. I have experienced more issues and suspect that there will be more to come.

How do I face the issues ahead? It is a matter of holding on to faith. I am not alone in my fight with cancer. I know that other people have had to find faith to weather the storms of life.

When I think of myself and others who are struggling, I am mindful of Mary and Joseph’s faith during their long journey to Bethlehem. They did not give up on God’s promise. They believed in the unbelievable and their faith saw them to Christmas morning and their child Jesus.

So as I ponder the season of Advent, I hope that my faith will lead me to a stronger point in my life. I pray that whatever God has in store for me will help me to see beyond just this moment into a glorious journey of faith.

This Advent we’ll be sharing stories from Adorers who are on a pilgrimage of sorts. We invite you to journey with us these four weeks and reflect on where you’ve been this past year and where God might be leading you.
